We took the kids and totally escaped the craziness to soak up the super chill vibe by the Mae Klong River. We got to do tons of cute activities like making merit (offering food) from a boat, learning to paddleboard (SUP), trying archery, watching people make sugar, and checking out the floating markets. It was a seriously chill and fun-packed 3-day, 2-night trip! My kids were the happiest ever.
For this trip, Dad brought the kids to Na Tree Tara Riverside Resort, a super relaxing spot by the Mae Klong River that you can visit again and again. Plus, they’ve renovated! It was already chill, but now it’s even more relaxing and super kid-friendly, with a playground that features swings, slides, climbing equipment—the whole nine yards! “Wela” and “Wayu” (the kids) absolutely loved it.
They offer a variety of room types, including those with pool access and villas. On this trip, Mew stayed in the 2-Bedroom Pool Villa Riverfront. The room is spacious, beautifully set up, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large living room. But the best part? It has a private pool and a lawn right by the river—it’s the ultimate chill spot! Mom was totally obsessed.
For active kids like ours, there were loads of fun things to do here!
- We started with the morning merit-making, where the monks come by boat—that’s one of the charms of Amphawa that I really love.
- If you want to learn SUP, just let the hotel know! They have an instructor who comes right to you. The teacher was so lovely and kind, and Wela and Wayu loved it. They even took great photos of the students! How awesome is that?
- After getting tired from all the activities, we refuelled with Kuey Teow Moo Ka-Ti (noodles in coconut milk soup) not far away—it was seriously delicious. We also got to try the fun activity of archery. The staff was fantastic, super patient, and gave Wela tons of good pointers. So impressed!
If you want to take the kids to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, it’s only a 15-minute drive. You can take a boat ride, find yummy snacks, and even watch them simmer and pour the coconut sugar. It was a unique, cool experience! And every Sunday morning, the hotel offers a boat trip to worship at Wat Bang Kung, where you can see the super Unseen Boddhi Tree Church—the only temple in Thailand that’s completely wrapped in a Boddhi tree, and it’s about 200 years old! They also have a mini-zoo where kids can feed the animals up close. Then, we took a boat to grab some tasty food at Bang Noi Floating Market, which has tons of cool stuff to shop for.
And that’s not even counting walking around and finding delicious stuff to eat at Amphawa Floating Market and Maeklong Market or taking a boat to see the fireflies! Wow, with this many activities, I guarantee your active kids will be absolutely thrilled. If all this activity leaves you tired and sore, the hotel also features a Spa That you can visit. If you prefer to work out, a Fitness room is also available.

The food here is also excellent, thanks to the Mangrove Cafe, the hotel’s laid-back restaurant, where the chef utilises local ingredients like coconut, pomelo, mackerel, and river prawns to create Thai dishes that are truly exceptional.
The trip ended on the highest note! This is definitely a spot I never get tired of visiting. I’m totally in love with Amphawa. If anyone is planning a relaxing getaway near Bangkok that offers tons of fun activities for the kids, Mom highly recommends this place!
